Host Student Housing Ltd – one of the largest operators of student accommodation in the UK – has announced a new senior hire. The company has appointed Chris Mcilhinney as its new Commercial Director. Chris will be instrumental in shaping and implementing the Host’s commercial strategy.

Chris will ensure that Host continues to meet the evolving needs of its students and investment partners. He will work closely with marketing and systems teams to continue Host’s innovation drive across its nationwide operations. His experience will further enhance their ability to drive occupancy, revenue and operational efficiency.

“I have an incredibly exciting opportunity to join Host and perform a key role in helping ensure the financial success of our PBSA assets under management, continuing to build close and effective relations with Universities and Investors, driving student experience and growing the number of beds under management. The company’s dedication and commitment to innovation, best practice, and customer success is truly inspiring. I look forward to working with this talented team to build on the strong foundations and drive our commercial success to new levels.” – Chris Mcilhinney, Commercial Director

Chris brings over 14 years of experience in sales, marketing, and budgeting in the student accommodation environment. He previously held senior leadership positions at the global real estate management company CA Ventures, and its in-house PBSA operator Novel Student. Before that, Chris worked at the PBSA property investment specialists, The Mansion Group. His track record in driving revenue growth, fostering strategic partnerships, and leading high-performing teams makes him the perfect fit for Host. Chris is excited to begin this new chapter in his career.

“We are operating in an increasingly competitive market which is growing both domestically and internationally, where investors and students alike are demanding best-in-class services and operations that deliver value. “This appointment represents a significant, strategic addition to our senior leadership team, which under our Director of Operations Sam Hollex, is continuing its rapid evolution where we are investing significantly in people and technology, creating a robust and sustainable platform for the long-term future. “Chris’ expertise and vision will be invaluable as we continue to expand our services and reach new heights in all aspects of the Host customer experience. Chris’s warm and collaborative approach aligns perfectly with our company culture, and we are confident that he will be a tremendous asset to Host.” – John Nesbitt Managing Director at Host

Host continues to grow, develop, and enhance its student accommodation portfolio. The business is delighted with their new appointment helping to mould the company’s long-term future. Host have over 9,000 beds under management. In January, they got the green light for a new Bristol PBSA scheme. Comprising 204 bedrooms, the scheme will be split across four buildings of six and eight storeys.
