Derby-based proptech platform Homemove has acquired Home.co.uk, one of the UK’s longest-running property websites. The deal follows Homemove’s £3.8 million growth funding round earlier this year and will see the company develop Home.co.uk’s 30-year heritage with new technology, AI-driven insight, and a free-to-list model for estate agents across the UK.
The acquisition positions Homemove to scale its platform nationally while maintaining its operational base in Derby, underscoring the East Midlands city’s growing reputation as a hub for technology innovation. The integration will enable Homemove to expand its reach across the UK property market while enhancing the capabilities of the established Home.co.uk brand with modern proptech solutions.
“Derby is where Homemove’s operations heartbeat lies, and we’re proud to grow a national brand from a regional base,” said James Freestone, co-founder and CEO of Homemove. “Acquiring Home.co.uk supercharges what we’re building — a simpler, smarter, more connected moving experience for everyone.”
Ben Horton, founder of Home.co.uk, emphasized the strategic fit between the companies: “Homemove has the innovation and energy to take what Home.co.uk has built and amplify it. This is a natural evolution that benefits agents, movers and the wider market.”
The acquisition enables Homemove to combine its technology-first approach with Home.co.uk’s established market presence and decades of property market data, creating opportunities to deliver enhanced services to estate agents and property movers through AI-powered tools and streamlined workflows. The free-to-list model aims to reduce barriers for estate agents while providing comprehensive property listings and insights to consumers navigating the UK housing market.
