The CRREM Foundation has appointed Andrea Palmer, currently Responsible Investment Lead for Global Real Estate Securities at PGGM, as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective July 2025. Palmer brings over a decade of experience in ESG integration and sustainable real estate investment to the role at the €245 billion Dutch pension fund manager.
Palmer’s appointment comes as the real estate industry, which accounts for nearly 40% of global carbon emissions, faces intensifying pressure to decarbonize. CRREM has evolved from a collaborative initiative between major institutional investors into a standalone nonprofit that has published science-based decarbonization pathways across 44 countries, becoming foundational infrastructure for real estate investment analysis.
Under Palmer’s leadership, CRREM Foundation aims to develop more granular pathways while expanding global collaborations. Her experience translating climate data into practical investment insights positions her to guide the foundation’s support for real estate investors, owners, and policymakers in aligning strategies with climate goals while maintaining commercial viability.
