Jonathan is a Director in the European Private Markets Research and Strategy team at Aviva Investors, where he leads on Real Estate Research across both the UK and Continental Europe. Recognised as an expert in Private Markets Research and Strategy, Jonathan has built a career of over ten years grounded in both quantitative and qualitative analysis. His work spans the capital stack, supporting Aviva Investors’ fund and joint venture equity investments, as well as debt and long income mandates. He is responsible for the inputs and outputs of proprietary models—including the award-winning Relative Value model—which underpin the house view on relative attractiveness of opportunities across Real Estate and other Private Markets. Jonathan has recently led thematic research into emerging sectors such as Single Family Residential, Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA), and Self-Storage. His role has expanded to include analysis of platform (OpCo) partners and the identification of new routes to market. A couple of years ago, he served as an interim voting member of Aviva Investors’ Real Estate Investment Committee, and he continues to contribute as part of the senior team guiding investment and portfolio construction strategy. He also oversees Aviva’s Real Assets Graduate and Intern scheme, reflecting his strong commitment to mentoring junior professionals and fostering greater social diversity within the industry. Academically, Jonathan holds an MSc in Real Estate from Reading University’s College of Estate Management and a BSc in Geography from University College London. He also holds the CFA Society’s Investment Management Certificate. He is a committee member for AREF’s Research and Information Committee, has contributed to AREF’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Taskforce, and remains actively involved in ULI, SPR, INREV, IPF, and CREFC. Jonathan is a frequent speaker at industry events, including those hosted by ULI, SPR, AREF, and UCL. He also mentors students through Career Ready and City, University of London.
