Aquaria Raises 2M to Revolutionise Clean Water Access
Aquaria, a company dedicated to addressing one of the world’s most pressing challenges—making clean water accessible to all—has announced a major milestone: securing $112 million in funding to expand its mission of delivering water from the air to homes, communities, businesses, and cities worldwide.

A New Era of Water Infrastructure

This latest funding round represents a significant advancement in Aquaria’s journey. With backing from prominent investors such as Mistletoe, Soma Capital, and former U.S. House Majority Leader Dick Gephardt, the company is developing innovative Air Water Infrastructure systems. These systems extract water directly from the atmosphere, offering a cleaner, faster, and more sustainable solution to meet the growing demand for water. Aquaria envisions a future where entire cities are supplied with renewable water generated from the air.

Co-founder and CEO Brian Sheng emphasized the transformative potential of this technology, stating, “Our air isn’t just for breathing—it holds an untapped water supply that can change lives. At Aquaria, we’re turning that potential into a reliable, renewable resource for everyone.”

Transformative Technology

Aquaria’s technology harnesses atmospheric water and delivers it to areas where it is most needed. The systems can be operational in a matter of days, leveraging renewable energy sources like solar power and battery storage. Their modular design allows for scalability, enabling the creation of large-scale Hydrogrids—air-to-water farms that function similarly to solar farms.

Key attributes of Aquaria’s approach include:

  • Advanced Technology: Proprietary air-cooling atmospheric water generation ensures top-tier performance and scalability.
  • Rapid Deployment: Clean water solutions can be operational within 24 hours.
  • Scalability: Systems are adaptable for single homes, entire communities, or larger-scale needs.
  • Versatility: Designed to operate both on and off the grid with renewable energy compatibility.
  • Affordability: Flexible payment plans reduce financial barriers, akin to solar industry financing models.

Building Communities with Atmospheric Water

One of Aquaria’s flagship projects is in Hawaii, where the company is constructing 1,000 homes that will rely entirely on atmospheric water, solar power, and batteries. This initiative demonstrates the potential to create sustainable, self-sufficient communities, even in areas with limited natural resources or water rights. The project also addresses Hawaii’s housing challenges by ensuring affordability.

Beyond residential areas, Aquaria’s technology holds promise for industrial applications in remote locations where traditional water infrastructure is prohibitively expensive or time-consuming to implement.

Partnering for Change

With $100 million in project financing secured from Upwell, Aquaria is actively seeking partners to scale its Atmospheric Water Generation (AWG) deployments. The company covers 100% of the upfront costs for qualifying projects, offering flexible pay-over-time agreements. This financing model lowers adoption barriers and accelerates the commercialization of its Hydrogrid technology.

Addressing a Global Crisis

Aquaria’s advancements come at a critical time as water scarcity intensifies:

  • Nearly half of the U.S. experienced drought as of November 2024 (Drought.gov).
  • The American Society of Civil Engineers gave U.S. water infrastructure a C- grade.
  • Globally, 771 million people lack basic water services, and 2.2 billion lack safely managed drinking water (WHO, 2023).
  • The UN predicts water scarcity could displace 700 million people by 2030.
  • Traditional water solutions are often too slow or costly to address these urgent needs. Aquaria’s innovative systems provide a faster, more resilient alternative to outdated infrastructure.

Shaping the Future of Water Access

Aquaria is committed to ensuring water accessibility is no longer a barrier to growth or survival. Property developers, community leaders, and anyone interested in partnering with Aquaria are encouraged to connect with the company.

While significant progress has been made, this is just the beginning. Aquaria invites collaborators to join in its mission to make clean, sustainable water a reality for everyone.
