Hammerson has appointed Gina Szymanski as Chief Financial Officer and a Director of the Company. She will start and join the Board no later than 1 January 2027.
Szymanski joins from AEW Capital Management in Boston, where she is Global Securities Chief Investment Officer. She began her career as a forensic accountant and equity analyst and has since worked across finance, capital markets, investment, REITs and corporate strategy. She will move to the UK before taking up the role. Hammerson made the appointment after a full recruitment process supported by an independent executive search firm.
CEO Rob Wilkinson said Szymanski brings “deep sector expertise, capital markets insight and a strong track record of value creation”. He added that her more than 20 years investing in global listed real estate give her a clear understanding of what drives shareholder returns.
Chair Robert Noel said her experience in finance, real estate investment, capital allocation and corporate strategy will strengthen Hammerson’s leadership team at “an exciting point in the Company’s evolution”.
Szymanski said she is excited about opportunities in the retail sector and sees Hammerson as “ahead of the curve, uniquely positioned operationally and financially” to take advantage of them.
