Furbnow has secured £2.5 million ($3.3 million) in seed funding to expand its home energy retrofit platform across the UK. The round was led by West Midlands Co-Investment Fund, with participation from Nesta, Wrightwood Investments, and SFC Capital.
Furbnow partners with councils across England, Cotswold District Council and Forest of Dean District Council among them, offering retrofit surveys and advice as a one-stop provider. West Yorkshire’s mayoral-backed Home Energy West Yorkshire program, launched late last year, listed Furbnow as a service supplier.
Becky Lane, Co-Founder & CEO of Furbnow, said, “I started Furbnow because improving the energy efficiency of my own home was genuinely miserable. Conflicting advice, quotes I couldn’t compare, and nobody whose actual job was to guide me through it. I’d been delivering large retrofit programmes by then, so I knew the problem wasn’t a lack of good intentions. It was the lack of anyone trusted to hold the whole thing together and the tools needed to deliver that.”
Furbnow plans to spend the fresh capital on team growth, technology platform upgrades, and expanding UK service delivery.
